If you have never seen it, this is a timeless classic. And one of the most popular silent films ever made.

Walk on The Wild Side
Volunteering at the Egyptian Theatre
Tonights movie was Walk on the Wild Side from 1962 .
Even though the movie is set in a bordello, I loved watching all the strong female characters in it.
Both Jane Fonda and Barbara Stanwyck are amazing in this movie.

Necessities
It was time for one of those Necessities of Life.
The Pap Test .
My new doctor's office actually has a woman practitioner who only takes care of woman's issues.
I think they call her the "Women's Wellness Doctor" or something.
I waited in the room forever. And then she gave me all the necessary tests.
Its weird - you meet someone for the first time, and before you know it, they are looking at places where the sun don't shine. Its embarrassing no matter how nice they are.
I was happy to tell her that I had a colonoscopy not to long ago - so we could pass on those exams for now.
Since this is at a completely different location, in a different doctors office - she seemed to be really confused about my previous breast cancer.
I had a lumpectomy in Aug 2005, followed
with radiation treatments ending Dec 2005.
Right now, the only thing different is that the left side looks more tan than the right side.
And there is just a little incision on the left side as well.
But the Womens Wellness Practitioner couldn't figure it out -
"Did you have a mastectomy with reconstruction ?" she said looking straight my tan left breast.
I answered "No, a lumpectomy with radiation."
She asked "Why didn't you have a mastectomy?" - which I thought was a strange question. Kind of late to be asking that.
I answered "The doctors at the time didn't think I needed it."
What a strange set of questions she was asking me ...
She seemed perplexed....
And ... I was happy when the entire thing was over with.

Pipes
The pipes in my kitchen sprung a leak.
It was actually leaking into the underground parking area beneath me.
The landlord came by, doing detective work, and trying to find the origin of the leak.
They searched all the apartments in my little section - the one above me, and the one next to me.
And Of course, it was from my kitchen.
That meant a big whole in my ceiling.
And plaster every where.
Its fixed now. But for about a week, it was pretty awful.

Dinner at Mels Diner
Volunteer Captain this afternoon at the Egyptian Theatre .
Then I wanted to stop by Mel's Diner again, and have the delicious Roasted Chicken with steamed vegetables.
Well, when I had it a few weeks ago, it was fabulous.
Everything was perfect. I couldn't wait to go order it again.
Tonight, my veggies were all watery. It was very blah.
Yes, they included the yummy Baby Chinese Yellow Carrots from last time - but it wasn't the same.
Must have been a different cook in the kitchen....
