Oscar Shorts
Volunteered at the Egyptian Theatre .
Tonight, they showed the 2006 Short Films that are Nominated for an Oscar .
If you did not get to go to a screening of Oscar nominated short films, I highly recommend that you Click on over to Amazon.com.
You can buy the 2006 Nominees on a DVD collection.
The 2005 Short Films are also available for purchase.
These short films are so good, its a shame that they are not shown in more movie theatres - so that more people can see them.

A Star is Born
Volunteered at the Egyptian Theatre .
The movie tonight was "A Star is Born" from 1954 starring Judy Garland.
This is such an amazing movie. A real classic. Judy Garland is perfect is this movie.
One of my all-time favorites.

Half Nelson
AFI had a screening tonight at at The Arclight Cinema .
It was the movie, Half Nelson .
Ryan Gosling is nominated for a Best Actor Oscar. He plays a school teacher who has a drug problem.
I was so happy to hear that at the Spirit Awards he won Best Actor - and that Shareeka Epps, who plays a student in the film - won the Best Actress Award.
I was checking out some of the IMDB.com message boards about the movie.
And people were posting questions asking about how his Cat dies.
Yeah, thats what I was wondering too.
There is a scene, where he wakes up to feed the cat. And the cat is lying there dead.
I was wondering what happened. And according to some of the posts, we were to believe that his cat does die from eating some of his drugs.
It is supposed to show how far out of control his life is getting due to the drugs.
All in all, Half Nelson is a very dramatic movie, with outstanding acting performances.

Signs and Wonders by Albert Clayton Gaulden . Its a book about learning to hear God, and knowing how God speaks to us.

I have been listening to "Advice on Dying and Living a Better Life as a book on tape. It is about Buddhist techniques for mastering the fear of death and finding spiritual enlightenment.
Wishing You A Blessed Ash Wednesday
 | I attended the evening Ash Wednesday service at Hollywood Presbyterian Church It was a beautiful service that included communion. I think its wonderful that more Protestant denominations are celebrating Lent, and especially Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. |

Gangster Movies
Gangster movies while I was volunteering at the Egyptian Theatre .
The first was "Gangland:Bullets Over Hollywood" , which is a very interesting movie about the American Gangster movie from the silent film era to modern times.
Followed by the "Rise & Fall of Legs Diamond", from 1960.
