Audition - Shout Commercial

This afternoon I had an audition out in Van Nuys.
I had originally heard that the title was "Rescue Mission".
so I was thinking that it is for a Homeless Organization or something.

But that was the title of the actual commercial.
It was actually for the product "Shout Laundry Detergent" .

There are about four women in the commercial. So there alot of woman there to audition for the roles.
And there was alot of action, and alot of lines to read.

I just sat there, reading over the dialogue.
There was one other actress who kept wanting to go over the roles out loud with someone else.

Finally they called me and three other woman. Our group of four would audition together.
We got inside, and were assigned our characters.
The lines were on cue card.
I was assigned the role with the most lines !

We were supposed to be four women on a hike in the woods.

The Casting Assistant started to get us ready.
He asked me to take off my button-down sweater, and just wear my T-shirt.
Which I did right away, no problem.

Then, one of the younger woman, was wearing dangling earrings and jewelry and funky feathery things in her hair.
The Casting Assistant asked her to remove them.
She kind of rolled her eyes, and gave a little attitude.

The Casting Assistant was very professional, explaining :
"The jewelry has to go. Remember, the commercial is about a hike in the woods. And you need to look like you are hiking in the woods. You would not wear that jewelry to go hiking in the woods."

He was very professional, and it was obvious that he enjoyed directing us.
So it was like a little mini-acting class.
He knew what he wanted, and was really good at explaining it.

We went over the scene about three times.
The girl with the feathery jewelry forgot her lines almost everytime - and they were on a cue card right in front of her!

I think I did really good. I really enjoyed the audition.
