I Wish You Were Here

I wish you were here
to hold me
to tell me the dumb thing
I just did
wasn't so dumb after all
or at least
to tell me
that I now know
what not to do

I wish you were
to hold me
to tell me that the reason
I lost wasn't fair
or at least
to tell me
I tried my best to win

For the best kind of comfort
is the close kind of comfort
I wish you were here
just to hold me
