I've Never Been Around

A seventeen year old girl
should know how
to put her hand in a baseball mitt
She should know
how to take the bus
downtown and back
A seventeen year old girl
should know the words
to all the popular songs
She should know
that falling in love
is what seventeen year old girls
live for

I must be
the only seventeen year old girl
who doesn't know these things
Its because I've never been around
I've close by
In the same neighborhood
And thats not good enough

I have no experience
in anything
No one ever taught me
to sing
But I do
I sing for you
I've never been around
I've never been in love

I've been told
to try to get the guy
you love
But no ones told me how
I've been told
that I'll know when I'm in love
How do I know its now
Because I've never been around
