July 2000

Happy 4th of July to everyone ! Hope you had a ton of fun celebrating your Independence day! As for me, I have been so busy I hardly know what month it is!

I am in the process of having the pictures and graphics done for my CD cover. Unfortunately, the first photographer I went to, well, the pictures didn't turn out quite the way I wanted. (Its a horror story in bad customer service - I won't bore you with the details.) So I had to go looking for a second photgrapher to do new pics.
Found a second photographer, and the pictures turned out really cool ! So now we are in the process of putting it all together as graphics for my CD cover. These things are such an exercise in patience.

In my spare time, I am doing more volunteer work. In June I helped with the MethodFest Film Festival in Pasadena. This is a film festival that features films with fantastic acting performances. (As in "The Method" style of acting.) They also had some very interesting Seminars on Acting, which I got a chance to listen to. The main benefit of volunteering for these types of things, is that I got to listen to all these seminars for free - as long as I kept one eye on the door. It was a wonderful week and I had alot of fun too !

Then at the end of June I started to volunteer for The American Cinematheque at the Eqyptian Theatre. This is a fantastic theatre in Hollywood that specializes in classic and old movies. Many times there are speakers such as an actor or director from the film to answer questions afterwards. It is a wonderful place to hang out and watch old films.

And this month, they had a special series called The Mods and Rockers Fest. This series showed all sorts of movies from the 1960s. I got to see "Smashing Time" and "Georgy Girl". Then both Michael York and Lynn Redgrave spoke after the movie all about the films. It was great to see them in person.

But the highlights of the event, for me, was getting to see both Micky Dolenz of the Monkees, and Peter Noone from Herman's Hermits in person ! Mickey Dolenz was the guest on the day they showed The Monkees tv-special "33 1/3 Revolutions per Monkee", as well as the TV Pilot for the Monkees Show where Boyce and Hart sang all the songs. Then one evening they showed the Hermans Hermits Movie "Hold On", and afterwards Peter Noone spoke about the film. Many of the members of his fan club were there, and I enjoyed talking to them after the show.

If you are ever in the Hollywood area, I encourage you to stop by the Egyptian Theatre and pick up a schedule. And if you can, come to the Mods and Rockers English Tea Party next year ! The party happened after they showed "Go-Go Mania" - a fun movie all about 60s English bands. At the party they served a traditional english meal of Bangers and Mash. Spencer Davis lead a band that played a ton of great songs - and it was all "smashing fun!". Martin Lewis is the host and organizer for the Mods and Rockers event. I guarantee you a great time!

Bet with all that you think I wouldn't have time for any website updates. Well, yes, I have! I put together a small website about one of my favorite bands "No Doubt". It is called Undoubtedly No Doubt. There are 5 No Doubt Windows Wallpapers that I created on the site. You can access these at My Music fan pages .

Yes, I have squeezed in time to take Diamond to the doggy park too ! Since its summer he definately gets to go as often as possible while the weathers nice. And it gives me a chance to un-wind from all this activity!

Don't forget to sign up for my List-bot mailing list. You'll get a website up-date every so often, and you will be entered for a chance to win a copy of my CD.

I hope you are having a wonderful and fun summer too!

Until next month,

Donna
