Phaedra
I drove to Glendale to A Noise Within Theatre to volunteer.
Tonights show was "Phaedra", a play based on Euripides' Hippolytus.
I really enjoyed it. And I am starting to realize how much I enjoy all the classics. Especially Greek theatre and literature.
My job as a volunteer tonight was to help people inside the theatre find their seats.
I looked at their tickets and sent them in the right direction.
I like doing this job, because it means that I get to talk to alot of the people in the audience.
Afterwards, a friend and I headed over to Bennigan's in Glendale.
I treated myself to some fancy alcoholic drink made with rum, and fruit juices and who know what else.
Good thing I was eating something as well.
Delicious drink.
Well, an evening of Greek Theatre - followed by a Rock & Roll bar ...

Studio City
I had an early morning appointment with Gracie at The D Miller Salon in Studio City.
First it was over to the Starbucks across the street for a Latte.
Which I needed after getting up so early.
I had just let my semi-grey roots grow out to long.
But it really didn't bother me.
My hair is now dyed my natural shade of brown.
So when the roots grow out, it really takes a while to be able to see the difference.
My friends have said they don't notice the roots, until I point and say "look at the grey hairs".
I don't understand why everyone says to go lighter when you go grey.
Maybe once you are totally grey.
But now that my brown hair is peppered with grey, I think it looks better to just dye everything brown.
First Gracie put the hair dye on the roots. Where we needed to cover up the grey parts.
She left it on for maybe ten minutes.
Then she put the dye on the rest of my hair. (Which had no grey because it had been dyed a while ago.)
It turned out perfectly.
Looks like natural brown hair.
On my way home, I had to stop in the Trader Joes in Studio City and do some grocery shopping.
I LOVE the Trader Joes Organic Decaf Chai Tea bags.
I bought 3 boxes.
It is so difficult to find Organic tea that is also decaf.
And then in this tea, the spices are also all organic too.
Its my favorite.

by Thomas Cahill
All this ancient greek history ... its reminding me of my college Theatre History classes.
Dern, those Greeks were smart for their time.
I think I am going to check out more of Thomas Cahill's books from the Los Angeles library .

I hit some of the sales. JC Penney had a great deal on winter coats going on.
So I drove to the one in Glendale.
It was time to buy a new winter coat.
Well, I bought two.
A nice black coat
and
and all purpose cold weather coat with a hood.
They also had a sale on scarf/glove/hats sets.
And after all of that, I looked around at the nice evening dresses, which were also on sale.
Not a single one in my size.
They were all gone because of the sale.
Only little itty-bitty sizes were left.
So I ended up not getting an evening dress.
Just two coats, and two scarf sets.
Now I will be all set when the cold weather hits.

More Cafe Press Stuff !!!
Since the holidays are right around the corner, after I was finished creating my
Cafe Press Christmas Section , containing my original Holiday photos on Cards, postcards, tshirts and more...
I went to CafePress, and started a Food Section .
This section includes some cute Greeting Cards, Calendars, Tshirts, Aprons, and more - all of my original photography of food ! Cupcakes, Birthday Cake, Margaritas and more !!!!
I am absolutely thrilled that now my Original Photography is available on
Greeting Cards, Postcards, Tshirts and More
I will going through my Flickr.com pages, and adding more of the photos to more items.
I am even playing around with different text and abstract artwork.

AFI Film Festival Day 12
In the morning, I both volunteered at the AFI Film Festival and saw the movies.
The first screening I had to be there for was "Hollywood Dreams" .
The director Henry Jaglom and lead actress Tanna Frederick along with Karen Black , did a really fun Q&A afterwards.
This is such a good movie, about trying to be a success in Hollywood.
It was the perfect, and completely suitable, movie to end my AFI volunteer gig with.
After that was done, and I helped take the tickets for the screening of "Bug" - I went and ate some lunch in the Arclight Cinemas Cafe.
The Arclight really got their moneys worth from me these last few weeks.
I may have seen nearly 20 FREE movies is the last two weeks - but I paid for my concessions and ate at the Arclight Restaurant more than I can count.
I had to be on my final shift at The Arclight Dome Theatre , for the screening of Curse of the Golden Flower .
It was hectic and crazy. The Dome is smaller than the Mann Chinese Theatre .
So to have the closing night Gala at the Dome - it was just crazy.
It was assigned seating in certain areas. And general seating in other areas.
And that makes for a crazy night.
Some people who had general admission, were trying to sit in assigned seats.
Also, some of the VIPs arrived late - and we had to keep people from sitting in those seats.
As ushers, we were trying to control it. And it was alot to do.
After the movie started, I watched from the side for about 10 minutes.
I looked around for a seat. There were singles scattered here and there.
But I don't like crawling over people once the movie has started.
Besides, I was exhausted, and it was time to go home.
I later found out that after the movie, there was a wonderful party on the top level of the Arclight Cinemas parking structure.
I missed it, I was home sound asleep by then.
