The Illusionist
A free screening tonight ! Over at The Arclight .
Edward Norton in The Illusionist .
Great movie. Great Acting.
It takes place at the turn of the century in Vienna, so there is also great scenery and great costumes.
And the movie company gave us free posters from the movie too !
Another movie poster to put up on my wall ! Free stuff is so good......
As we are leaving, my friends and I start having an air-headed conversation that could only come from people who grew up around the 1980s:
"Was that Jennifer Beals ? She didn't look the same."
"Oh, I know, she must have had plastic surgery. She looks so much younger."
"No, No - that wasn't Jennifer Beals - That was Jessica Biel - completely different actress."
"Oh yeah, thats right - Jennifer Beals was in Flashdance. Jessica Biel was in Seventh Heaven .
How embarrassing - I hope no one heard our space-case children-of-the-80s confusion.
Jessica Biel was only one year old when Jennifer Beals was popular in Flashdance.
Mammogram & Blood Tests
Time for the 6 month Breast Cancer check-up.
My first stop was "The Lab" o get a Breast Cancer Tumor Marker Blood Test .
The technician took one jab at my arm, and could not find any veins.
Well, now that we can't use my left arm because of the lymph nodes that were removed - they usually don't want to poke around getting blood unless they are sure the can get it to work.
We only have so many spots.
I told the technician "The thing that always works are the Baby Needles or Butterfly Needles."
She responded that they were completely out of Butterfly needles.
And I was going to have to drive to their other location, and they had their butterfly needles there.
She wrote directions down on a piece of paper.
I then walked over to the Breast Cancer Center. And sat in the waiting room with about 5 other woman.
The place was really running behind.
I changed into my little smock. And then I sat around with the other woman who were waiting.
Little flowery smocks covering the top half of our bodies.
Two of the woman were very chatty.
One of the woman mentioned "how much she hated these things" - and it got me thinking:
Which one of us has had Breast Cancer ? Was I the only one in the room ?
And who is just there for their regular 2 year check up? Probably everyone there except me.
Of course, they had to re-do one of the mammogam shots twice because they didn't get it the first time.
Then I found out that my favorite Radiation Diagnosis Doctor had left, and moved back to the east coast.
I was so annoyed, because I really liked her.
I was even more annoyed when the new Radiation doctor never came out to introduce himself to me.
The technician took my films into him, and then came back out.
"The doctor says everything looks normal".
Sorry, this is typical of a male doctor to me. The previous female Radiologist was much more personable and friendly.
And off I went - to the other "Lab" on the other side of Glendale.
I got my blood taken - this time with nice tiny weeny Butterfly Needles.
I stopped off for lunch - I mean Breakfast- at Eat Well , Restaurant.
I like it because the food there is good for you.
I am on a big Eggs Florentine kick right now.
I have it at least twice a month.
And Eat Well has really good Eggs Florentine.
I always like to take myself out to a restaurant after a Doctors appointment.
Its kind of a Reward for all the medical stuff I have to go through.
I am A Bad Blogger
I have been typing all day - and the blog is still about a month behind !
My sincere apologies to my readers !
As you can tell, I go out so much - I don't get alot of time to sit at the computer these days.
I will try my best to get "Donna in Hollywoodland" up to date soon !
Until I do, please check out My page on Flickr .
I post new photos a few times a week, so there is always something new there.

Me !
The World Trade Center
I attended an advance screening of The World Trade Center.
At first, I wasn't sure I wanted to see this movie. I thought it might upset me to much.
But I like Nicolas Cage so much, I didn't want to pass it up.
I had also read an interesting interview with Oliver Stone in the LA Weekly .
And reading that article made me want to see the movie.
It is a wonderful, touching movie.
Bring alot of kleenex with you. I was crying alot throughout the movie.
Since I work every day in a highrise office building, the scenes where the building comes down really freaked me out. It was so realistic.
For the next couple of days, when I would arrive at my office building, those scenes would come back to me.
Very dramatic film. And a true story about two survivors from Sept. 11th.
Happy Days
Volunteered over at The Falcon Theatre .
Then I got to stay and see the musical "Happy Days".
I was standing by the door, taking peoples tickets and passing out programs, when Paul Williams came in.
He wrote the music for Happy Days.
He introduced himself to me, saying "Hi, I'm Paul."
I answered "Hi, I'm Donna, I'm a volunteer."
And then I was alittle flustered.
He was very nice.
Happy Days was really a fun, happy musical ! I loved it so much !
All of the actors were so talented. And it was so much like the TV show - except with music.
