Jesus Christ Superstar & Hair
Drove out to Santa Monica to The Aero Theatre to watch two Groovy movies.
Jesus Christ Superstar from 1973
and
Hair the Musical from 1979
As I watched these movies, I was amazed at all the wonderful songs that came from those movies.
I must get the soundtracks !

One of my Favorite Songs from Hair :
Easy to Be Hard
(By Gerome Ragni, James Rado, Galt MacDermot)
Lyrics:
How can people be so heartless
How can people be so cruel
Easy to be hard
Easy to be cold
How can they ignore their friends
Easy to be proud
Easy to say no
Who care about evil and social injustice
Do you only care about the bleeding crowd
How about a needing friend
I need a friend
You know I'm hung up on you
Easy to give in
Easy to help out
Who say that they care about social injustice
Do you only care about the bleeding crowd
How about a needing friend
I need a friend
How can they ignore their friends
Easy to be hard
Easy to be cold
Easy to be proud
Easy to say no

Miami Vice
Oh! Wow ! I went with a friend to the Crew screening of the new Miami Vice !
This is a screening specifically for all the technical people who worked on the movie.
And guess what - Michael Mann , the Director, was there too !
I smiled at him, and he smiled back, as we passed eachother in the lobby after the movie.
Oh, I wish I was more eloquent and knew what to say in situations like this.
I guess "I really enjoyed the movie" would be good enough, but I always feel like I should say more.
Anyway, I really did enjoy the movie. Lots of action and suspense and sexy Miami scenes.
And both Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx are absolutely gorgeous in the movie !
And no, they were not at the screening unfortunately....
Afterwards, they had great appetizers and drinks in the lobby.
I tried the Mojito Rum Drink that they were serving. (It is featured in the movie, and is very much a Miami thing, I guess.)
At first I wasn't sure if I liked the rum and mint together.
Then after a few sips, I really liked it.
And then after a few more sips, I started to get a little bit dizzy.
Ok, time to put the Mojito down and get a Cola.

Labyrinth at The Academy
Tonight at The Academy of Motion Pictures , they were showing Labyrinth from 1986 starring David Bowie .
The event was very full, probably sold out.
It was the 20 Year Anniversary. Many of the original Animators from Jim Henson Studios were there to speak after the film.
I remember back in the 80s, owning the Soundtrack to this movie. Had to be the first soundtrack I ever owned.
And I am pretty sure I saw the movie back in the 80s as well. Tho I don't remember for sure.
As I watched the movie, things seemed to come back to me.
But it could have been because I had listened to the soundtrack so many times.
I loved watching David Bowie rock out with all the little Muppets !

A Chorus of Disapproval
When I volunteered at The Odyssey Theatre last time, the shows were totally sold out. So I got to come back with a friend to see a play.
Tonight I saw "A Chorus of Disapproval" .
A funny show about a theatre troupe as they put on "The Beggars Opera".
After the show tonight, there was a Question & Answer with the Cast. But it was getting very late, and so I had to leave and miss that.

A friend sent me a pass to see the play at The Geffen Theatre .
But for some reason, I thought it was just an advertisement or something and I didn't print it out. But I needed the print-out to be able to see the play.
When we got there my friend said "You remembered to bring the pass, right"
My reply "What pass?"
My friend : "The one I emailed to you."
Oh-Oh. Silly me.
We went to the Geffen boxoffice, and I definitely needed the email pass to get in.
I asked if there was a Internet Cafe nearby, so I could run in and print it off my Yahoo mail.
They said the Grocery Store just up the street had computers.
So off we went.
When we got to the grocery store, we found that the coffee area had computers.
I asked the cashier, how much for the internet. It was very cheap.
I pulled out my money and said "minimum time on the computer, and we will need to print one page."
The cashier said "The printer is broken."
Oh, no...
Well, we then took off and walked all over Westwood to find a computer place that had a printer.
We asked people in coffee shops on their laptops. We asked strangers.
We looked at every Kinkos and printing place in Westwood.
It was Sunday, they were all closed.
We stopped and had brunch at Elysee Bakery .
I have discovered a new Love - its named "Eggs Florentine". Spinach and eggs on a muffin - very yummy.
The only problem I had with my breakfast is that I refuse to drink or eat anything in styrofoam.
The woman poured my orange juice into a styrofoam cup. No, no, I need it in a glass.
Then she took the orange juice that had been in the styrofoam and poured it into a cup.
No, no - that won't do ! I tried to explain to her how horrid styrofoam is, the plastic leeches into the food.
I don't know if she understood or not.
As a person with cancer in my past, I need to be very careful about those kinds of things.
We ate our brunch, and then it was "What do you want to do?"
Since I forgot to print my pass, we were stuck in Westwood ....
I called on my cell phone Movie Phone 777-film to see what movies were playing.
We decided on "You, Me and Dupree" .
A very funny movie that I enjoyed alot.
