Inconvenient Truth & The Lake House
An evening over at Arclight Cinemas . I saw a double-feature.
An Inconvenient Truth, followed by The Lake House.
An Inconvenient Truth was interesting. Very much a lesson that needs to be learned.
I do have a tendency to get bored very easily in a classroom. So towards the end I was losing attention.
Its just the way I am.
But this is such an important movie. Global Warming, The Ice Caps Melting, Polar Bears dyeing.
Everyone should see it. We need to learn what we are doing to our environment.
Then, I really wanted to see The Lake House, starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock.
I did enjoy it. But parts of it got me confused.
The time periods they were both in were just to close in time. And I couldn't keep track of whose time frame the scene was in - Keanu's or Sandra's.
I had to think about it to much, instead of being able to relax and enjoy it.
Then, in one scene, Sandra's mother tries to explain the Time-Warp thing that is going on. So she mentions that it could be Global Warming.
Wait, that was the first movie I saw ....
Hair at D Miller in Studio City
After having my hair ruined last month by the new beauty salon in Hollywood, I went to the
D Miller Salon on Ventura Blvd in Studio City to get them to fix it.
There is a friend of mine who has been going there for years.
I showed Gracie the sylist, my hair, and pointed out what a disaster it was.
By the roots it is a copper colored light brown, while at the ends it is the medium brown of my original hair.
We agreed to go a few shades darker than my natural color. And I stated "No red".
So dark brown, no red tones.
And cover up my grey !
After she put the dye on my hair, she stuck me under the drier.
And after she rinsed my hair- guess what ?
I had dark brown hair, with no red tones.
Finally, I got the hair I wanted.
During the late 1980s, I had gone blond. I had been blond until just a few years ago.
I guess there are just so many blonds in Hollywood, I wanted something different - my real color.
And with the breast cancer last year, I just didn't want to be doing something harsh to my hair.
I tried to go totally natural in the interest of health.
But there are to many greys in my hair now. So those need to be covered up definately.
Its nice to be back to my natural color.
Daily Grill in Studio City
After seeing a posting on Craigslist for a volunteer opportunity, I drove to Studio City. I met up with the person in charge at The Daily Grill Restaurant.
I was expecting it to be a "volunteer meeting" with lots of other volunteers.
But it turned out to be just me and the person in charge, and they treated me to my ice tea.
It turned out they were not a non-profit organization after all, but was still looking for "volunteers". They seemed to be alittle to politically minded for me. The organizer mentioned attending meetings with city politicians.
I tried to make it clear that I was really only interested in pitching in at their special events.
But all in all, I don't think it really is a good match for me.
Stuart Gordon - Edmond
Screening of the movie "Edmond" starring William H. Macy over at the Egyptian Theatre .
He is one of my favorite actors, so I really wanted to see this movie.
There was a Q&A afterwards with the Director and Supporting actors. It was really interesting to hear the story of how this went from a stage play to the big screen. With many of the same actors contributing to the roles.
Stangers with Candy
Ran over to The Egyptian Theatre to catch a screening of Strangers With Candy , starring Amy Sedaris .
Tonight, I didn't Volunteer. I just bought a ticket like a regular person, and went.
The screening was completely sold out.
I was running late from getting out of the office, and literally ran into the theatre trying to get a seat.
I ended up sitting way up in the balcony - the second to last row.
Which was fine, because I could see the screen perfectly.
The movie, Strangers with Candy, was very funny.
I don't have Cable, so I am not familiar with the TV show.
The movie is has some raunchy over the top humor to it. And many of the people in the audience seemed to already know most of the jokes. I guess they were fans of the TV show.
Wassup Rockers
Volunteering at the Egyptian Theatre . They were having a screening of Wassup Rockers .
The event was completely sold-out, and so much fun.
Everyone who saw the movie had such a great time.
There were skating demonstrations in the Egyptian courtyard.
Doing the tickets, I felt I was at a Rock Concert with Festival Seating.
It was a very fun night.
Girls Night Out !
Drove over to The Grove , and had a great dinner at Marmalade Cafe located in the Farmers Market section.
I got the lobster & shrimp ravioli in a chardonnay cream sauce.
I usually don't eat pasta, or lobster & shrimp - but it sounded to good to pass up.
One friend had the Filet Mignon Chili.
And another Fried Calamari.
And the waitress was even nice enough to give me and my friends all separate checks.
Then, walking through the Grove - we had to shop at Bed Bath and Body Works .
Shower Gels I bought:
Pomegranate Martini, Frozen Daiquiri, Raspberry Vanilla and Cherry Blossom.
Yes, those are all Shower Gels - not drinks.
They smell so yummy.
