Chris Penn Tribute
Tonight I volunteered at the Aero Theatre for a tribute to actor, Chris Penn .
They showed two movies, Reservoir Dogs and The Funeral .
Many of Chris Penn's friends and relatives were at the event. And it was wonderful to watch this amazing Los Angeles actor in two of his films, up there on the big screen of the theatre.
It was a very touching and memorable night.

One of the all-time best disaster movies from 1972 - the original
Poseidon Adventure .
Such a great movie. I loved every minute of it.
It is definitely one of my top 10 favorites.
Actress Stella Stevens and Director Ronald Neame spoke after the movie.
And you just can beat seeing it on the big screen over at The Aero Theatre
in Santa Monica.
In addition, we celebrated the birthday of the Director, Ronald Neame. I got to help them serve cake to celebrate the birthday event.
So it was another fun night - movie and a party.

The Night of the Hunter
Volunteering over at The Aero Theatre in Santa Monica.
The film was The Night of the Hunter.
Everyone told me I should see this movie. All my friends were recommending it as one of the best films ever.
And no, I have never seen it, and I didn't see it tonight.
Tonight I was Volunteer Captain and I had to help out in the lobby most of the evening.
So I have still not seen this great movie.
We did have a really fun reception event for the Cinematheque Members. So I got to help out with that.
Those parties are always great fun.

Okay, the best way I can think to spend my Easter these days is in, ummm .... Beverly Hills.
Some friends and I went back to Kate Mantilli's restaurant, and had a wonder brunch there. Well, mainly breakfast.
I had a wonderful egg white omelet packed with all sorts of vegetables. Very delicious.
This has now become my favorite restaurant for lunch. The prices are reasonable, and there is always a chance you will see a celebrity. No, this time, we didn't see any famous people.
We then stopped off at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , and viewed the photography exhibit of the previous Oscar galas. The pictures were just wonderful.
Then on the fourth level, they had an exhibit on "storyboarding". It was alittle over my head. Too technical for me.
(Remember, if you are in Los Angeles visiting, you really need to stop by the Academy building. They have special screenings and exhibits. If you love movies and the Oscars, when you are in LA, make this one of your stops.)
Then, after that, we went to Rodeo Drive and walked around the real Beverly Hills.
Yes, I took tons of pictures. And I will post them on My Flickr Photo Pages when I get a chance.
Lastly, we stopped off at a very fancy hotel, The Regent Hotel , on Wilshire Blvd and had drinks.
I splurged and had a margarita - since we had been walking around for hours. The slushy drink was just perfect.
And the beautiful restaurant bar was a nice relaxing way to end the day.
